Addie Jones is a junior at the University of Arkansas studying journalism and political science with minors in gender studies, nonprofit studies, and rhetoric writing studies.
As lifestyles editor at the Arkansas Traveler newspaper, Jones manages editorial direction for a team of 20+ writers and content reaching 30,000+ readers. She has also written 86 stories for the paper, spanning arts + entertainment, cultural commentary, and social advocacy. Jones has further developed her journalistic skills with positions at Hill Magazine, the Razorback Yearbook, freelance publications, and multiple zines.
Jones has demonstrated an understanding of strategic communications through a copywriting internship at Stone Ward Advertising Agency and a marketing & communications internship at Art Bridges Foundation, where she developed compelling narratives about accessibility programs reaching underserved communities. She currently writes and edits a weekly newsletter for the Walton College of Business, reaching 15,000+ readers.
Beyond journalism, Jones is deeply involved in community service, civic engagement, and literacy advocacy. She currently serves as a legislative policy intern for the Democratic Party of Arkansas, where she analyzes bills focusing on education and insurance & commerce while identifying key media moments during committee hearings. On campus, she is president of the Young Democrats at UofA, coordinating initiatives for 100+ members. She is also vice-chair of Headliners Concert Committee, managing a $500k budget for campus entertainment events.
In high school, Jones founded Bright Beginnings Books, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to distributing books and engaging children in the reading process. She has helped distribute 13,000+ new books to students across all 50 states and 12 countries. Jones also serves as a board member for the Passionate About Literacy mentorship program, managing 70+ volunteers and designing literacy curriculum for students across five local partner sites.
Through journalism, advocacy, and community engagement, Jones continues to pursue her passion for storytelling and creating meaningful change.
